Yarn, cookies, and relaxation all come together in Millard West’s new knitting and crochet club.
The group first began when French teacher Sarah Karst was taught to knit and crochet by one of her French students. Other students learned about their meeting, and joined. The club only grew from there.
The group sits in a circle, chats, drinks tea, and of course, knits.
“It’s a chill place to just come and hang out and knit. Knitting is surprisingly relaxing,” Karst said.
Because the club has yet to develop funding, students are still required to bring their own yarn and tools.
Next year, the club plans to open their own stand at the spring Millard West craft fair, to knit with seniors at nursing homes, and create toys and blankets for animals at the Nebraska Humane Society.
The club meets every Thursday in room 318 from 3:20 to 4:15.
